The Brodart Story
In 1939, Columbia University student Arthur Brody transformed library book care with his invention of the plastic book jacket cover. This innovation laid the foundation for Brodart, a company that would continue to pioneer solutions for libraries worldwide.
Throughout the following decades, Brodart expanded its expertise. We ventured into book distribution in the 1950s, further expanding our services and now offering a remarkable selection from over 80,000 publishers and stocking our warehouses with more than 2 million books. In 1959, we launched our high-quality furniture line, crafting library furnishings known for their longevity and craftsmanship. Pioneering shelf-ready services, we streamlined workflows for libraries across North America and around the globe.
